Mr. John Benjamin Byrd, 78, of Lockhart died March 12, 2009 in Lockhart. Mr. Byrd was born September 25, 1930 in Waelder, Texas to Marvin and Bertha Mae Alexander Byrd. Mr. Byrd was preceeded in death by his parents and his wife, Armilda Byrd. Mr. Byrd was a member of the First Lockhart Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon, Sunday March 15, 2009, at Eeds Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services were held at 2:00 p.m., at the International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas, with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Norman, Ruben Villegas, Robert (Bo) Wilson, Jeffe (J. P.) Parra, Tom Hefner, and Roy Alexander. Mr. Byrd is survived by his children; Melanie Johnson and her husband Dan, and John Byrd and his wife Amanda; eight grandchildren, Bree, Reha, Joseph. Norah, Clint, Maureen, Audrey and Claire.
