Bertha Ola Haynes of Las Vegas, Nevada died peacefully with family at her side on May 20, 2009. She was born December1, 1933 in Caldwell County to Pierce and Mae Etta Kimble Haynes. Bertha was one and a half years old when her mother passed away. She was raised by her father and step mother Velvie T. Haynes, who preceded her in death. She married George Allie Winn November 6, 1953 and later married William Haggard both of whom preceded her in death. Bertha had two brothers Robert L. Haynes and Cardell Haynes who preceded her in death, one sister La Vera Winn, and a daughter Marquette Lanore Winn. Bertha loved the Lord and served him unconditionally. During her years in Texas she served as a Sunday school teacher, guest speaker, and served proudly as a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. She was a member of Calvary Southern Baptist Church under leadership of Pastor. Jaffus L Haley. Bertha served diligently and really enjoyed attending her Sunday school class until her health failed her making it impossible for her to attend. She will be remembered for her lively spirit as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Bertha is survived by four daughters ,Yvette Adams (Walter), Wanda Winn-Whitaker(Roy), and Paula Taylor of Las Vegas, NV, and Josetta Haggard of Mobile Alabama; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one sister Verlee Carter (Cal) of Lockhart, ; two brothers Pierce Haynes (Mary) of Austin TX, and Levi Haynes of Las Vegas, NV and a host of relatives and friends. , A visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. till 7:00p.m. Saturday May 23, 2009 at Bunkers Mortuary in Las Vegas. A visitation was held at Eeds Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 29th. Funeral services were held Saturday May 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Baptist Church, 644 Highway 21 East, Cedar Creek, TX. with Reverend L.L Carter presiding. Interment followed at St. John Colony in Dale. The family would like to thank Capital Dialysis and the Davita Dialysis personnel along with Dr. Swenson and Dr. Duke and the staff of Sunrise Hospital Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit for the care they've given their mother over the years.
