Mrs. Verona Fehlis, 85, of Lockhart passed away peacefully in San Marcos on December 30, 2008. Verona was born July 15, 1923 in Maxwell, Texas to Fritz and Frieda Shulle Germer Sr. She was a tax preparer for the Internal Revenue Service before retirement. Verona was a lifelong member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Maxwell, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Emmitt Edwin Fehlis on October 13, 2001.Verona is survived by her son Don Fehlis and wife Linda Lindsey of Buda; sister; Leona Best of Maxwell; sister-in-laws, Gerry Fehlis of Lockhart and Emily Fehlis of Roundrock, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Baldwin and Betty Fehlis of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren; Kelly Fehlis and Eddie Humphrey of Temple , Thad and Julie Fehlis of Spring, Texas; Kurt Fehlis attending A & M at Bryan College Station; great grandchildren; Taylor and Rhett Humphrey of Temple. A visitation was held Friday, January 2, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel with family and friends. Funeral services were held at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Maxwell, Texas on Saturday, January 3, 2009 with the Rev. Eddie Humphrey officiating. Serving as the pallbearers were: Thad Fehlis, Kurt Fehlis, David Fehlis, Bruce Germer, Darrell Hess, Larry Lindsey. Interment followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Maxwell, Texas.
