Bertha Reid, 94, passed away peacefully in Lockhart, Texas January 7, 2009. Bertha was born to Wallace and Maggie Cast Martin in Cedar Creek, Texas March 27, 1914. She had worked many years for the U. S. Postal Service as a secretary and for the Texas Employment System before her retirement. She attended the Methodist Church. Bertha is survived by her nephews: Gene Chambliss, Norman Chambliss both of Dale, Don Martin and Bob Martin; nieces: Karen Buckner and husband Billy Ray of Lockhart and Della Mae Stephenson of San Marcos; numerous great nieces and nephews. Private funeral services were held at Eeds Funeral Home with Pastor Stan White of the United Methodist Church of Cedar Creek, Texas officiating. Serving as the pallbearers were: Gene Chambliss, Norman Chambliss, Don Martin, and Bob Martin. Interment followed at the Cedar Creek Cemetery in Bastrop County.
