Mr. Edward Valdez, Jr., 51, of Lockhart passed away peacefully on April 8, 2009 with his wife, Cecilia, family, and friends at his side. Edward was born on November 28, 1957 to Edward Montoya and Olga Hinojosa Valdez in Mercedes, Texas. He had worked most of his life as a carpenter in the construction business. Edward was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting; especially deer hunting. He was preceded in death by his mother, Olga Hinojosa. Edward is survived by his wife, Cecilia , father, Edward Montoya Valdez; children; Richard Moses Gonzales, Edward Isaiah Valdez III, and Laura Faith Valdez;; sisters; Diane V. Salazar, Edna Glidewell, Brenda Valdez, Glenda Barron, and Vivian Valdez, grandchildren; Richard Blas Perez, Gabrielle Valdez, and Zachariah Valdez; extended family; Pete Troy Torres, Mark Anthony Torres, and Timothy Torres. A visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel and Tuesday, April 14thfrom 9:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m., with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Celebration was held at 10:00 a.m. at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Father Tom Bruns officiating. Serving as the pallbearers were: Kevin Salazar, Jerome Tristan, Rami Al ‘Naser, Juan Valdez, Daniel Allen Torres, and Larry Brian Torres. Serving as the honorary pallbearers were: Steven Ray Barron , Julius Valdez, Jesse Glen Barron, Joseph Valdez, and special friend Johnny Valdez.
