Mr. Elias Ortiz, Sr. 80, of Lockhart passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2009 with his family at his side. Elias was born in Lockhart, Texas to Margarito Soria and Elisa Trujillo Sanchez Ortiz on February 16, 1928. Elias had worked as a welder and a supervisor for a' boat company before his retirement. He attended the Oakview Baptist Church. Elias was preceded in death by his parents and his only sister, Ninfa Ortiz Yanez of Lockhart. Elias is survived by his wife of sixty years, Petra H. Ortiz, nine children: Loida and Jesse, , Sammy H. Ortiz and his wife Rosie, Robert H. Ortiz and his wife Susie, Rosa H. Ortiz and her husband Pete, Connie H. Ortiz, Dora O. Lopez and her husband Freddie, Margarito H. Ortiz and his wife Sandra all of Lockhart, Elisa H. Ortiz and her husband Henry of Austin Elias H. Ortiz, Jr. and wife Janie of Kyle, thirty-four grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. A visitation was held Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Eeds Funeral Home ~hapel from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 27, from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. with family and friends in attendance. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., January 28th at Lockhart First Baptist Church with the Reverend Juan Sanchez officiating. Serving as the pallbearers were: Gilbert S. Aguilar, Daniel Ortiz, Lenny Martinez Ortiz, Kevin V. Ortiz, Julian A. Duran, Paul Reynaldo Caudillo, Andrew Ortiz, Glenn R. Ortiz.
