  Bernard Arthur Stueve
Bernard Arthur Stueve passed into eternal peace on October 14, 2009 in Conroe, Texas. He was the youngest of four children and born to a German immigrant, Hermann F. Stueve and Josephine Pfeiffer Stueve on February 5, 1915 in Goforth, TX. Growing up in Lockhart, TX he worked on the family farm and played football at Lockhart High. One summer, he joined the CCC and assisted other young men in building Bastrop State Park. Ben continued playing football while attending St. Edwards University after graduating high school. In 1938, he married Media Pearl Lewis, and joined his father-in-law’s company as an oil field cementer. Since World War II brought the commercial oil industry to a halt, Ben and Media then traveled to Deming, New Mexico where he was their Fire Chief for a few years. After the war, they returned to Texas and settled in Victoria where he was the football coach at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School. Ben was instrumental in taking his football players to a district championship. The Stueve family moved to Austin and eventually retired 28 years later: Media with the IRS and Ben with the Department of Agriculture. His passion and loyalty to his family, his friends and his dogs was Ben’s greatest attribute.

His wife of 71 years, Media Pearl Stueve recently passed on July 9, 2009. Ben is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Parks and her husband, Daniel S. Parks of The Woodlands, TX, his son, Scott Andrew Stueve and his wife, Judith Stueve of Smithville, TX; grandchildren, Victoria Parks Fisler, and her husband, David Fisler of The Woodlands, Tracey Parks Mosconi and her husband Louis Mosconi of Aliso Viejo, CA, Kevin S. Parks of Denton, TX and Nathan Stueve of Portland, OR; great-grandchildren, Garret Fisler, Meredith Fisler, and Christiaan Mosconi; and nieces and nephews.
