Barbara (Dunshee) Green

Barbara Dunshee Green was born January 7, 1926 in Chariton, Iowa and passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 16 at Eeds Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas with interment in the Lockhart Cemetery. Michael Bartley of Heart to Heart Hospice officiated and grandchildren Hunter Green, Amanda Forjan, Erin Krifka and Celeste Forman were her pallbearers.

The daughter of Lillie Florence (McCollough) and Frank Dunshee, she was the seventh of nine children. In September 1946 she married Billie Dean Green who predeceased her on September 4, 1991. She was also predeceased by her youngest son James David Green. She is survived by daughters Judith Ann Deppe, Joellen Sue Christie and son Billy Thomas Green as well as seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

As a military wife, she came to Lockhart with her husband Bill in 1970 who was stationed at Bergstom AFB. Upon his retirement they remained in this community. She was active in her church, various camping groups, Red Hats, Irving Club, VFW Auxillary and the American Legion Auxillary. She also enjoyed participating in activities at the Lockhart Senior Center. For twenty years she was an income tax preparer for H&R Block and earned her Enrolled Agent certification with the Internal Revenue Service.

She led a full and active life; she was loved and will be missed. It will be hard to fill the space she is leaving in our hearts.
