On August 24, 2020 Evelio (Velio) Mendoza of Lockhart, TX passed away. He was born April 23, 1934 to his parents, Patrocinio and Maria F. Mendoza. He is survived by his companion Lala Yanez, his stepsons, Ruben (Maggie) Yanez, Saul (Swanda) Yanez, Oscar (Janet) Yanez, his step daughters, Emma (Art) Rocha and Sylvia Evans Wright. He is also survived by his 15 grandkids and numerous great grandkids. Serving as pallbearers are Ruben Yanez, Saul Yanez, Art Rocha, Robert Strandtman, Ryan Strandtman and Lupe Juarez Jr.
Velio proudly served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. He worked for Hunter Industries for 36 years where he happily retired. For those that knew Velio, knew he was a musician at heart. He played several instruments including his beloved accordion. He played music while Lala sang by his side to entertain his family and friends. Velio will be greatly missed by Lala, his step children and all of his grandkids.
A Visitation will be held at Eeds Funeral Home chapel from 5pm until 8pm Thursday August 27 2020
A Graveside Service will be held at Lockhart City Cemetery at 10am Friday
