Obituary

It is with deep sadness we mourn the passing of our Mom Haide Karla Mulkey on April 15th, 2022 in her home in Lockhart, TX. She was born February 25th, 1943 to Karl and Alma Kuhne.

She leaves us to cherish our memories of her. Mom enjoyed the simple pleasures of life like the birds singing in springtime, children playing and wildflowers blooming. Music playing, the night sky and one of her favorites: taking the long way to get somewhere just to enjoy the back roads.

She was a generously caring person who touched the lives of all who knew her, always being there for those in need. She gave cheerfully to her community, known for her generous spirit and her passion for her ministry as a Jehovah’s Witness.

Known as Nana to her grandchildren, she would light up when she just heard their voices and spent as much time as possible bringing them joy and laughter. We as her children never doubted her love for us and appreciate the moments she gave us to define us and mold us into who we are today. She taught by example that everyone deserved to live a life not of things, but of love and kindness to all.

She will forever be in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

Now we must navigate through our lives without her presence and choose joy in all we do as a testament to her legacy of love.

She is preceded in passing by her parents and her grandchildren, Justin Montague and Karla Montague.

She is survived by her children Andrea Pilgrim-Brown and spouse Robert, Jerry Mulkey and spouse Diane, Darline Mulkey, Laura Ryland,  Suzanne Caton and spouse Jason. Her grandchildren David Mulkey and spouse Tiffany, Jonathan Pilgrim and spouse Debra, Jeremy Mulkey, Jessica Pilgrim, Jade Ryland, Hunter Ryland, Arya Reed, Emily Caton and Sarah Jo Meyers.

Her great grandchildren Karla, Alexis, David Jr, Caleb & Charity.

Her great-great grandchildren Kayston, Raiyah, & Tyler.

Her sister Elke Yordy and spouse Stan, niece Barbara and nephew Erick.

Mom did not want to be the focus of a funeral, so we have planned a Zoom/live memorial service in her honor for family and those closest to her. She also wished to be cremated, and her “ashes to be spread to help other things grow.”
