Harold F. Wilson, (Hank) Wilson, died April 2nd 2020 at 8:22 am.  He was born in Lockhart, Texas on December 18, 1927 to Oscar B. and Nina E. Wilson and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrey G. Wilson, as well as two daughters, Susan E. Cunningham of Lockhart, TX and Barbara A. Bowering of Bay Roberts, Newfoundland (husband, Robert B. Bowering) and four grandchildren, Christy M. Cunningham, Nicholas E. Cunningham, Austin W. Bowering, Lauren A. Bowering.  He was predeceased in death by two brothers and two sisters:  Dr. Oscar B. Wilson, Jr, Normal L. Wilson, Vivian Schorlemer and Barbara Keahey.

Colonel Wilson attended public schools in Lockhart and Uvalde, TX, graduating from high school with honors in Uvalde in 1946.  He entered the U.S. Army following graduation from high school and subsequently enrolled at Tulane University and their Air Force ROTC program.  He was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force at the University of Texas in 1952 via their ROTC program. 


During his 30 years of active duty, Colonel Wilson served in a variety of increasingly responsible command and staff positions.  He earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California (USC) and attended numerous service schools including The U.S. Army War College.  Having served as a Special Agent with the Office of Special Investigations, Squadron Commander and Air Force Installation Commander, his final assignment prior to retiring in 1983 was Director of Telecommunications and Information Systems with The Defense Industrial Supply Center in Philadelphia, PA.  He earned the following awards and decorations:  Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and WWII Service Medal to name a few.


He was an amateur “ham” radio operator and held an FCC General Class license with a call sign of WA5IAV.


Following his Air Force retirement, he worked in Saudi Arabia for six and a half years—first with Lockheed Aircraft International, then with Litton Computer Systems Division and finally with the Royal Saudi Navy.


Harold was a 65-year member of the Lockhart Masonic Lodge #690.  He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.  He had been an Elder and Trustee in the First Presbyterian Church of Lockhart, which he attended regularly.  Additionally, he was a member of the American Legion Post 345.


Due to Covid 19 restrictions, there will be no funeral services, but a Celebration of Life event will take place as soon as the virus and restrictions have lifted.
