Jena Mae DeShay

Jena Deshay, 63, of Dale, TX, passed away on January 13, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Jena entered this world on October 18, 1959, the fourth of eight children born to Charles and Bobbie Deshay in Austin, TX. She attended Johnston High School and worked at Travis State School for many years. Jena loved working with all people both young and old. Throughout the years her service record shows her passion for genuinely wanting to help others. She joined the church at an early age, accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and served God faithfully until her failing health prevented her from doing so. When Jena had her children DaShabre Deshay and son Michael Deshay, she decided to dedicate her life to being a caring and wonderful mother. Jena excelled at propping up and bridging together members of her family. She supported them through the many passions and difficulties in their lives. Whether caring for children, her parents, or siblings, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others. She also loved cooking, being outdoors, and celebrating life. When she was not filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her garden, volunteering at the local school or daycare, or baking. She will be missed dearly by many.

Jena is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Deshay and Bobbie Deshay Nash; stepfather, David Nash; brother, Randy Deshay; Sister-in-law Shea Deshay and companion, Walter Glasco. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, DaShabre Deshay son, Michael Deshay; Grandchildren Kristopher Brown; Ashia Minter; Kameron Brown; Dayvia Hughes and great-grandson Kayden Brown. Brothers, Charles Deshay Jr, Danny Deshay, Rickie Deshay Leslie Deshay, and Albert Williams; sisters, Linda Williams; Sarah Deshay and Sister-in-law Mary Deshay She also leaves behind a considerable number of nieces, nephew's great nieces and great nephews. The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist. There will be a funeral service at Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Creek, Tx January 30, 2023, at 11 a.m.
