Benny Joe "Jody" Meredith age 87 passed away Monday, May 25, 2020.
Jody is survived by his wife Maida Meredith, sister Marie Ormand, brother Gerald Morrison, children Debra Ann Meredith (husband, Roy Trantham), Todd Fellers, Tammy Nanney (husband, Wayne Nanney), Dickie Guthrie (husband, John Guthrie) 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jody and his darling wife Maida were married for 61 years. Jody retired from R.W. Byram after 62 years of working. He was a well know Local Legendary Texas Western Swing Musician. He was inducted in the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame and Pioneers of Western Swing in 2006 and was awarded The Distinguished Texas Musician award by the Texas Music Museum in 2013. Jody was an original member of the Geezinslaw Brothers known as "Slick" and several other bands before starting his own band "Jody Meredith and the Round Up Boys". He loved his music and loved his family even more. He will be missed by many. Graveside Service will be held Friday May 29th at 10:30 in Lockhart Municipal Burial Park.
