Larry Dan Castleberry

In Loving Memory

June 14, 1945 - January 25, 2021

(Age 75)

Larry Dan Castleberry was born June 14, 1945.

He entered Heaven on January 25, 2021, passing peacefully in his sleep.

Larry was raised by Dad, Everett & Mom, Mary , as the youngest of 6 sons. Larry was witty, optimistic , full of laughter and fun, and was a very kind and caring individual. His height and athleticism lent themselves well to a very active high school basketball team involvement. He graduated from South San Antonio High School in 1963.

He served faithfully and with great valor in the Army National Guard. It was on one of his assignments where he met and subsequently married Linda Jean Smith. They moved to Alice Texas, and had two children, Larry Dan Castleberry Jr. & Elizabeth( Bettie) Mae Castleberry. Larry was meant to be and remained a wonderful dad and took to his utmost calling with love, humor, wisdom, patience, and adventures galore!

Linda & Larry moved to Corpus Christi, Texas and finally back to San Antonio, Texas.

Larry worked for Alamo Iron Works for many years and was a successful salesman who perfected the art of putting everyone at ease, in a good mood, and feeling like they had known him all their lives. It is true that he never met a stranger and countless social interactions were like second nature to him and he thrived in the sales/ social environment.

Larry went on to marry Linda Diane Castleberry on July 27, 1978.  She was and now eternally is the great love of his life. They are married almost 42 years when she passed away last July 20’ and he reunited with her Heaven side about 6 months after they were briefly apart.

Larry & Linda resided in San Antonio, Texas, raising their blended family, playing tennis, entertaining friends, and enjoying all life had to offer.

They continued their pursuit of a lovely home, loving family, working hard, and playing hard, when they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in the 90’s.

Larry was a long time member of Myers Park United Methodist Church, in Charlotte, and he and Linda served on the labyrinth  team together and helped set up for various seasons of this hands on spiritual experience at the church.

Larry worked for Conbraco & Promarketing Inc. while he lived in Charlotte as well.

He eventually retired after many years as a traveling salesman, logging in countless miles, sales, friendships, and memories along the way.

Larry is preceded in death by his Beloved wife Linda, his twin sister Mary Ann, his parents Everett & Mary, and his brothers Wallace, Monroe, Kenneth, and Glendon.

He is survived, mourned, and missed exceedingly by

His daughter, Bettie, her husband Charles, Granddaughters Autumn & Hayley, and a great grandson son arriving June 21’!

As well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends that will feel his absence acutely, and look to the time with great anticipation & with eternal  hope when they will all be together again.
