Obituary for Walter Bohot (W.A.)
W.A. graduated from Smithville High School and went on to become a self-
employed carpenter and later owned several businesses. He returned to Smithville
and began his self-employment of carpentry in the area. Always early to rise, he
was often out on the job site at daylight. He was an honest and good-hearted man
who never met a stranger. He could meet someone for the first time and captivate
their attention with his many stories (all true!). W.A. was an avid outdoorsman and
loved hunting, fishing and taught many young people the basics of being safe in
the outdoors.
W.A. had been baptized and was a believer in the Lord’s glory. His faith was
apparent in his everyday life.
W.A. passed away peacefully on December 24 th with his devoted wife Donna at his
bedside. They were devoted to each other, were inseparable and have been married
for 32 plus years. He always called her his beautiful wife and they both considered
each other soulmates.
He will be so missed by many friends and family. W.A. is survived by his wife
Donna, daughter Barbie and husband Steven, son Jonathan and wife Catherine,
daughter Priscilla and husband Scott, brother Paul and wife Kathy, brother Harley
and wife Judy, sister Kathryn (Gayle) as well as numerous nieces, nephews,
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
W.A. was diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD) which is a
neurodegeneration disease. There is no cure and it is devastating emotionally and
financially for the person with the disease and their family. In lieu of flowers or if
you would like to consider making a donation in memory of W.A. you may contact
the Association for Frontal Temporal Degeneration directly to make a donation.
Any amount will be appreciated and will go towards research to hopefully find a
cure someday for this terrible disease. The website is: theaftd.org or their phone
number is 1.866.507.7222.
