William Dean Rooksberry

William Dean Rooksberry (Bill), 69, of Lockhart, Texas passed away peacefully in his home on April 13, 2024.

Bill attended school mostly in Lockhart, then joined the U.S. Marine Corps. After his time of service, he became a mechanic. He worked many years at Alex and Schultz Garage, then moved with Melvin Alex to the “back” shop, and finally ran a shop of his own, where he worked until his passing.

In the mid-90’s, Bill met the love of his life, Rene’ Mayers. Through her, he gained three bonus children whom he loved deeply. But, he didn’t stop there. He later also “adopted” a fourth child to whom he then passed on all his knowledge about cars and life.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ed and Irene Rooksberry, his wife, Rene’ Mayers, and his Pops, Melvin Alex.

Bill is survived by his children, Dustin Mayers, Brandi Howell (Daniel), Amanda Mayers, And Tony Harris (Shelby), his two sisters, Sue Patton (Larry), Bobbie Lakomia-Hayman (Jim), his niece and nephew, and several children and grandchildren.

A small memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Masonic Lodge at 602 S. Main Street, Lockhart Tx 78644 at 11am. Cards or flowers, etc. can be sent to the family at 342 Bois D’ Arc, Lockhart, Tx 78644.
